OUR COMPANY
Algoma began in 1975 as a commercial painting contractor doing painting and coating work for institutions, universities, offices, arenas, etc. across southern Ontario. Seeing an opportunity in the industrial sector, a decade later Giuseppe Fortino became a partner in the business. The business grew as it completed many large projects, particularly in the sewer and wastewater treatment industry.
Giuseppe Fortino’s sons, Eugene and Marco Fortino, were involved with the company beginning at a young age and grew up in the industrial painting and coatings business. Eugene and Marco, along with their cousin Frank Presta, eventually took ownership of the company and continue to operate it under its same founding values: to provide reliable service and quality workmanship, while delivering every project on time and on budget.
